This Saturday has been dubbed Record Store Day , and I urge all you music lovers to go out and buy a record (you will be shocked how much new vinyl there is) or a CD from a locally owned music store. When I was in college, there were three within walking distance of LSU; now here are none. I would hate to think there is no room for record stores in our lives anymore. Here are a few left standing in our area, to which you should pay a visit this weekend.
The Compact Disc Store, 684 Jefferson Hwy
Music Treasure Chest, 410 N. Acadian Thruway
Buddy Stewart's Rock Shop, 1706 N. Acadian Thruway
Bottom Line Records, 1338 E. Washington
The Exchange, 9812 Florida in the Broadmoor Shopping Center
Bowie’s Record Shop, 9612 Scotland Ave.
Dan Deacon, performing Wednesday at Spanish Moon, is touring in a biodiesel bus, and is willing to trade spots on the guest list for clean vegetable oil. The details can be found here. Bring enough and they will make you dinner.
