Grand Isle
(1) Starfish at sunset. We like the beach no matter what beach it is. (2) Grand Isle is so close but so far away. One travels the full diminishing ratio of water to land that is south Louisiana to get there. It's been at least 15 years since I've been there and this weird bridge wasn't there. It includes two sharp turns and a stop-sign intersection with another bridge. We followed that boat, the Bon Temps from Cut Off, for ages. (3) The silty water at Grand Isle is so shockingly dark and sculptural after the pastel translucency of Pensacola. It's like going to the North Sea. (4) What's happening on shore? Sunset. Boring. (5) One last look. Thanks, Grand Isle. Thanks, gas station coffee that saw us through the 3-hour drive home.
