100 words on .38 Special's "Caught Up In You"

(Inspired by discovering that Jim Peterick, who is performing here soon with the Ides of March in a revival tour, co-wrote this song as well as "Hold on Loosely" another .38 Special song I love only marginally less than I do"Caught up in You")

Every time I hear “Caught up in You” I’m swept up in how perfect a love song it is. It ascends a daunting peak in the terrain of popular music, perhaps a mountain of cheese or a monumental pyramid of beer cans, but one as high as any other lofty perch music can attain, its vista surveying love itself. It could go on for days, as it often does when covered, because like love, there is no logical ceasing of its cycles. It’s defiant of style or fashion or simplicity of sentiment. Like love itself, “Caught Up in You” endures.
