Material Issue - International Pop Conspiracy (lala) is the eighties alternative version of The Everly Brothers: upbeat, sweet, catchy songs about girls, delicious harmonies that don't whomp you with HARMONY (sometimes I felt the 80's alternative rock pool was peopled by the sons of dictatorial choir directors), laced with a sly bad (but not too bad) boy insouciance.
The Posies - Dear 23 (lala) is the eighties alternative version of REO Speedwagon: effortlessly sweeping and anthemic, knowing how to drive a story song from within, and the guy from the Posies kinda sounds like the guy from REO Speedwagon at points.
