just a bit off the sides
I feel now the way I always feel when I listen to Samuel Barber - I generally liked what I heard but couldn't tell you a thing that was said. Kind of like conversations with my actual barber. The short operatic scene A Hand of Bridge stuck out because of the sudden presence of dramatic voice against all those taught swooning melodies of the Capricorn Concerto, and Fadograph of a Western Scene had that Schoenberg daydream thing I enjoy minus the dissonance, but that's about it.
